Subbed vs Dubbed Anime
To the people on this forum who enjoy Anime, do you prefer subbed anime, or dubbed?
I've always been a fan of dubbed (if done well). For instance, Naruto or Bleach. The japanese voices sound like a bunch of little girls, while the English give a much more intense and deeper sound.
As well, I hate trying to read what the squeaky voiced people are saying when I'm trying to watch the show.
So what're you guys' opinions on the matter?

I like both.
Dubbed for the fact I can understand it and I live the voices.
Subbed because the japanese sounds not only right for what I'm seeing but it's good to listen to

Re: Subbed vs Dubbed Anime
like both but serious if you watch subbed you Learn Japanese
but hate fan dubs
usually. not well done and not done correctly
eg from digimon
a digimon was ask are you a girl
in the fandub no and digimon do not repduce I am a guy
the dub version yes but digimone do not reproduce
Japanese version no digimon do not have genders
thats why it pisses me off

I can't say you learn Japanese from subbed anime. I mean, you pick up on some words here and there, but their grammar rules and such are different from English or other languages, so you'd really have to watch a SHITLOAD of anime to actually pick something up, and not just be repeating lines from an anime.

Re: Subbed vs Dubbed Anime
most of the time, subs.
dubs are usually weird with translations. such as bleach's "zanpakuto" to "soul cutter sword." it'd be much easier to just use the original japanese word. rurouni kenshin's dubs changed "hitokiri" to both "manslayer" and "slasher," when assassin sounds less stupid and fits better than the others.
also, like half of female voice actors in dubs talk with super innocent and fake voices. it's incredibly annoying.

Re: Subbed vs Dubbed Anime
put it this way if you watch a dub you have a chance to fall asleep while watching if your watching a sub you actulay have to pay attaion meaning less chance of falling asleep but you might miss something in the show but at the same time you get the version that is correct insted of some translation that is made by some idiot who knows only a little bit of japanese

Re: Subbed vs Dubbed Anime
I don't know about anime, but if its a foreign film, I'll just watch it subbed. The reading may sometimes distract you from whats happening, but half the time I can't tell whet they are feeling and that anyway.
