Late 1800's/Early 1900's

So one of my personal favourite time periods for writing is the late 19th century, particularly in Britain. The fashion, weaponry, transport and lifestyle of the period really appealed to me, as it was a more lawless era where a lot of exciting new inventions were being made. Cars and trains replacing horses, the introduction of electricity, etc. If you've seen or played anything like Peaky Blinder or Red Dead Redemption, you'll know the kind of vibe i'm describing.

But why haven't i just rushed into the RP section and posted a sign up thread? BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU LOT f***ing WANT.

Would you play an RP in this era? If so, what would you add to it? What would make it playable and engaging? By no means do i need to host this RP, I'd just really enjoy writing something in this era. You could even turn it into an additional slot in a series. make it an Assassin's Creed or Harry Potter RP, or even a Hidden World one, Dylan, idgaf. A supernatural element might actually make this more engaging.

I kinda like the idea of a mystery style thing for this era, exploring the ideas of ghosts and stuff. Maybe it could tie in with the hidden world, a small group go looking for ghosts and get more than they bargain for sorta thing? and it ends up being a survival rp with the supernatural actively hunting them to keep them silent, and not being able to get help because no-one would believe them?

Could be interesting. Would need to make sure we make full use of the time period's resources though. Monsters might be a better option than ghosts, as they can be killed. Werewolves, sasquatch, etc.

Yeah, that could work, I was just thinking of a way to link the hidden world with the normal world. I thought ghost hunting could be a gateway monster, like, they uncover one an abandoned Tutores Lalet hideout or something which starts off the fight for life.

We could all start off as humans in the human for example and while interested in stories of ghosts and monsters stumbled into the Hidden World, which does happen from time to time. Along the way some could be turned or killed or changed so we become supernatural.

And I love the idea of a survival based RP. I'm all for that.

Would this era be suitable for HW?

I think it would tie in nicely, though I don't like the idea of turning into monsters ourselves, that would just make it another HW rp. I think it needs to focus more on the divide, and the supernatural protecting their secret world by any means necessary.

Considering the Hidden World of London was the most popular RP's on here and set in 1841, yeah... I'd say we'd mostly likely love another RP for this time period. Victorian and Edwardian are 2 of my favourite eras and I'd love a RP that's actually historically accurate for the most part. (HW had a lot of alterations)

Yeah this period would perfectly suit HW. And good point Chavvy. So, Conor. You want to start brainstorming some of the details like place, plot, exacts? And would you like to start and run this since it was your idea?

I'll only run it if it's not HW, cause that's your playing field.

I'd also like to set it in America and/or England

I would honestly rather a new original RP than yet another HW one, I'm just drawing a blank for a concept

Well gangs were a big nuisance back in these days, both in cities and in the 'Wild West'. We could all be in a gang?

Could be part of an organized crime family moving into a new area to take control, the mafia were HUGE in the 1800's.

Or even trying to start our own "family". Fighting against other families, gangs in the area (such as the violent russian/irish gangs that cropped up all through the 1800's), in an attempt to get control. Could set up some really interesting writing and development, as well as a lot of cool action.

EDIT: If you don't go with a mafia theme, I might pick it up myself.

We could spawn a few roleplays from this idea I think. Me I'm personally wanting a Survival horror RP, which doesn't have to be HW. But I do like the Mafia / Gang idea.

I've tried multiple times to write up this thing, but I can't seem to come up with anything particularly exciting. Anyone else got any ideas?
