I loved the film, great inspiration, but I prefer to watch more mainstream movies and read more popular books for my ideas for published work, this way I know its already semi popular material and has more of a chance.

I suggest you don't focus so much of publication, just write for fun, improving your craft. Then, after you're confident in your writing ability, try to become published.

As well, all of the copyrights for that film belong to Blender, so you'll be hardpressed to get them for under a couple thousand dollars.

I love playing a good zombie game, and then write a short story about it.

Also doing the same thing with Space Station 13 is really fun. I have some funny stories from that game
