Technically Bitcoin is making strives to be the first successful universal currency. I haven't dabbled much in the matter because it all still seems a bit shady, but it's gaining repute by the day.

Basically someone who was overenthusiastic about memes made a parody currency of Bitcoin.

To be fair, it was a genius move on his part, no matter how silly the idea. I'm sure the creator made a ton of money.
