Making a new logo.

So I'm working on an updated logo. The other, while amazing for what it was, is outdated and is designed horribly.

What I've come up with so far is this, and I have it set currently to see what it looks like.




This is the old logo.



I am tempted to add the dust trail fog stuff behind the new one, as it fills up the header nicely, but I wanted everyones' opinions before I move on.

It's good, I'm just not sure it's better. I like the semi-symmetry of the new one, but I love the font and pattern (especially in "RPG") of the old one. And I'm not massively fond of the emphasis on the 'X' it makes the 'E' look weird AF.
Maybe a hybrid between the two?

Personally, I like the new one, looks more industrial, and has a much better line with it not being all over the place like the last one. Just makes it look that bit more professional.

That's what I meant about being semi-symmetrical. And as for being 'industrial' and 'professional' I'm sorry but is this not meant to be a fun site? Shouldn't the logo be fun?

The industrial feel comes from it being more metallic and structured, its not a bad thing. And to having professional looking site isn't a bad thing either, it shows that its not just a bunch of kids here f***ing about after-school. Just because something looks nice doesn't mean its not fun, is having a nice phone not fun? A nice car not fun?

I really like that dude. Try shifting the E and R just a little but more outwards, and that's a cool logo to me. Maybe to making an alternate version with block colours?

Will do, I'm also going to change the green a bit since it's a little more vibrant than what I was looking for.

Could you explain that last sentence Conor? Not quite sure what you meaN?

EDIT: Casey, looking like we know what we're doing goes a long way in the eyes of a lot of people. I for one have no respect for a site or forum if their logo isn't professional looking. It can mean the difference between being stuck at ten members forever or progressing beyond to build a successful community. Just because it's professional doesn't mean it can't be fun.

The old logo isn't symmetrical in the slightest. It hurts my head to think that was once the peak of my abilities, the font doesn't fit the style it's made in, the border is poorly done and looks rushed, and it just overall doesn't represent the forum well.
I'm going to try to make a crossover with the same glassy style for the green though, like you suggested, because it should look good with a proper border.

Black CK colours as on no detail inside the letters, just a single colour fill. It's useful for smaller logos like watermarks on YouTube channels.

Ah, yeah. That's actually how all of my stuff starts out before I stylize it. I'll post it when I'm home.

1. I know the old one isn't symmetrical, the all-over-the-place thing is the only part of it I dislike.
Just to emphasize ; the reason I like the old font over the new font (other than the weird emphasis on the 'X' is that I find overly 'blocky' lettering kinda off putting, I love that the current logo has those little curves. Come on, tell me that big 'RPG' doesn't look gorgeous.

Just for having that vapour trail behind it makes it look better, I can envision it on the site now, now that it sorta matches the existing theme colour-wise.

Do you think the green needs to be darkened a bit or naw?

The backing green? Maybe a couple of shades, but I'm guessing you'll change that to match the sides eventually anyway

I meant the logo's green, it feels too vibrant to me. Maybe it's because the background green doesn't go to dark but rather to gray.

I think that's it, the fades are to different colours. Myself, I like it as it is there, makes it stand out

That looks really sick dude. Could benefit from a bit of shadow glow around it maybe? To hell it stand out of the green bg? I'm not too sure about the haze effect now, might look better without
