First mission?
Star Wars: Rogue Traders
"I heard that pilot is looking for a crew, though a pilot and next to no crew seems a little shady to me. He's probably come to Nar Shadaar to disappear like most folk do. It seems alot easier to do that these days with the chaos in the inner systems, and the downfall of democracy, no-one to keep tabs on the critters of the underworld. Word is he's looking for a crew to help fulfil a few contracts, fingers in alot of pies he has, smuggling, bounties, transport, you name it. Guys mad, trusting anyone in a place like this, every kind of alien going, and most aren't here for a holiday. But hey, if you're interested in a quick few credits, he's over there if you want." The barman says quietly, leaning over the bar to ensure only you hear his words.
Star Wars: Rogue Traders is set not long after the fall of the republic, a time were the Empire is flexing its muscles with its newly acquired power, and the general populous are torn between conforming and rebelling. The perfect time to be a space criminal. You will join Fesa Thorn, and Hiss on the Skipper, as you travel from planet to planet, doing whatever you are being paid to do, whether it be delivering goods both legal and not so much, providing support for criminal gangs, and smuggling people needing a quick getaway.
The Skipper: (better image pending)
Required crew (to run the ship): Pilot, co-pilot, mechanic (unless co-pilot is capable), and gunner during combat situations (two ideally for efficiency).
(Sidenote: Skipper is a placeholder name, if you can think of something better please let me know )
Fesa Thorn:
Hiss:

- Spoiler:
- The Skipper once belonged to a man of wealth on Naboo. Typically, these freighters were used to carry goods of outposts and small colonies where bigger ships wouldn't be able to land. During the clone wars, got there fair amount of use, before being decommissioned by the empire in favour of cheaper models. Skipper was "borrowed" by a group of smugglers, leaving one unlucky rich man on Naboo angry that his latest toy is in the hands of criminals. She was repainted to be grey, with navy blue where the reinforced sections are, and small bits of yellow on some of the trims, to help disguise her is ever the owner recognise his missing ship.

Fesa Thorn:
- Spoiler:
- Age: 37
Race: Human
Role: Pilot (though has basic mechanical knowledge)
Appearance: Roughly 5'9, of a lean build, and fit-ish for his age. His face is thin, with sharp features, with his eyes overhanging his green eyes, a pointed nose, thin lips, and a small chin. On his face are several scars from a fight with a Trandoshan. He has medium length, dark brown (almost black) hair, brushed back away from his face, with a single plait running down in from of his left ear.
Equipment/Clothing: Typically wears a white tshirt, black loose trousers, and black boots that reach just below the knee. Over this he wears a blue leather jacket in a similar colour to the blue of the Skipper, with plated sections over the shoulders, and back of the forearms, and a few straps for fastening. He also has a belt with a blaster pistol holster, and a few pouches across the back. Always carries a S-5 blaster pistol in his holster, and straps a DLT-20A rifle to his back when needed.
Backstory: Feso Squall was born and raised in the barracks of the royal fleet of Naboo. He was raised by his father, Kessa, as his mother had died at an early age. It was only natural that Feso would to the cockpit when he came of age, and proved to be a skilled pilot from early on. He really came into his own during the assault on the trade federation blockade, being one of the youngest official pilots involved in the fight. His father wasn't as lucky though, and was spaced in the dogfight, his body never being recovered. After his loss, Feso went a little off the rails, turning to drink to dull his pain, and the cutbacks on the Naboo military didn't help either, eventually leaving him out of work during the early days of the clone wars. Desperate, he joined a group of smugglers, and became part of the crew of their newly acquired ship, The Skipper. He proved himself among the group, and acted as a co-pilot regularly, and eventually taking over as the main pilot as time went by. During his time in this new career, he changed his name to Thorn, given that he was constantly a thorn in the side of someone, whether it be an employer, a crew member, or Bossk, who he seemed to bump into alot at Cantinas.
He doesn't speak about the Skippers former crew (Aside from Hiss), but he eagerly awaits the arrival of a new crew.
Hiss:
- Spoiler:
- Droid Type: R2 Astromech
Appearance: Like all R2 units, it looks like a mixing bowl on a bin with two broom handles for arms, and a sponge for a centre foot. Honestly, If you don't know what an R2 unit is, what the hell are you actually doing looking at this RP? But in all seriousness, Hiss is painted to match the ship, with a dark blue head, a grey body, and any external cabling is in yellow.
Features: Hiss is a custom unit built for the original owner of the Skipper, and his name coming from the slight exhaust fault that causes him to hiss when working. Unlike most R2 units, Hiss is modified to be able to communicate with crewmembers via a vocabulisor. He is able to interface with the ship to operate weaponry, fix technical issues, and pilot should everyone be injured. Other than this, he carries a basic toolset to be able to fix things on the go, or give the required tools to someone. With Hiss being more a personal droid, he is not equipped with conventional weaponry, only an arc blaster for stunning.

Re: Star Wars: Rogue Traders
Name: Lah-TekTek (Or just Tek, if you like)
Age: Eighteen
Race: Vatik
Race Description: Vatik are monkey-like humanoids who inhabit outlying, mostly deserted planets in most galaxies, mostly because their home planet was destroyed many years previously thanks to mining expeditions sent by various companies. Because the race refused to learn English and no one could understand them, they were mostly killed off. And most of the survivors stick to old traditions, setting up Clans in any forest they can find. They are extremely hardy beings, and can actually survive in space for a span of about ten minutes without any lasting side affects.
They have long arms that extend just past their knees that are tipped with large, six fingered hands, a second thumb protruding from the other side of their hand. In addition to their long arms, they have slightly shorter legs, meaning they run slower on two feet than on all fours. Their faces are mostly human, just with slightly larger noses and eyes (Eyes that can range from solid black all the way to bright yellow.) And, like monkeys, their feet are like hands.
For the most part, Vatik are covered in hair, the exception being their chest, face, and crotch, which at most have peach fuzz on them. The hair acts as most human hair, graying with old age, even though Vatik can grow to around two hundred years old (they begin graying around 100.)
Role: Co-Pilot.
Skills: Limited engineering capabilities, mostly to do with guns, ship weapons and security, and things of that nature.
Lockpicking.
Skilled climber and extremely well coordinated.
Much stronger than humans and most other humanoid race of his size.
Extremely skilled with a longbow, or a stickflicker as his species refers to them. His is named Nokthukker (Headtaker).
Excellent large-ship pilot.
Super sneaky, particularly in forests.
Limitations:
Extremely unskilled with a blaster, tries to angle the shot to make up for drop, which a laser doesn't have. (He can use them, but just sucks.)
Less skilled with small fighter class ships, but still capable.
Runs slow when carrying things, on account of his legs being shorter than others.
Prefers to walk on all fours (Like an orangutan) than on two feet.
Terrified of snakes, even small ones (And worms, if they look too snake-like.)
Too fond of the phrase "Shoot first, questions later."
Appearance:
Standing at a whopping 6' 7'' when straightened up and weighing in at two hundred fifty three pounds, Tek is covered in midnight-black fur that, for some reason, is extremely soft, unlike most Vatik. His skin is a creamy caramel color that darkens when he tans. His eyes are a deep purple and his teeth are a crisp white, his canines are more pronounced than those of humans and are very sharp. As for everything else, he's a normal Vatik with long arms, short legs, and big hands. He keeps his mane, the hair on his head where humans usually have hair, trimmed to match the rest of his fur.
Equipment/Clothing:
Tek wears a thick, custom made, black plated bomb disposal jacket and pants to match with heavy leather gloves on his feet to maintain usability. On his head he wears a red baseball cap with the insignia of a famous space pirate on it. On his belt, he wears a long, heavy combat knife (like this one.)
As for equipment, he usually carries a backpack with rope, water, a few dry rations, some basic tools, a radio (for communication), and scrap electronic parts in it.
He also carries his bow with him at all times. An expertly crafted longbow painted black with a thick metal cord. Along with the bow he has his quiver, which contains arrows with various purpose, from disabling electronics to exploding. The bow has a range of a basic blaster rifle, the arrows also travel at close to the same speed as a blaster bolt.
Backstory:
Tek was born on a planet who's name he never learned to the Lah clan. The planet was almost deserted of intelligent life, so the Vatik prospered unhindered, forming massive cities in the trees, using scavenged tech from crashed spacecraft to accent their homes with lights and computers. Tek was intrigued by this technology and learned as much as he could about it. It was this love of technology that made the rest of the Lah dislike him. They were deep rooted in their traditions, and while technology was a good tool, they had no interest in learning about it.
Tek scavenged spacecraft for years, having no idea that these things that fell from the sky periodically could actually fly. That is, until one crash landed a short way from his home, which was set away from the main part of his village. Upon searching it, he discovered a living human, a man named Paul. Until now, he'd only met humans and other aliens of the dead variety and had never actually spoken to one. Naturally, he couldn't understand this human's English, but after helping the man escape the burning wreckage, instead of killing him or bringing him to the council, as is customary, he carried the wounded man back to his home and bandaged his injuries.
While Paul recovered, he taught Tek his language, as well as several other alien languages he knew. In return, Tek taught Paul of his people. When Paul was well enough, Tek assisted him in gathering parts to build a spacecraft, which Paul insisted could fly, something that was deemed impossible by the Lah. Paul taught Tek as he went, repairing his spacecraft and helping him learn of other planets. Eventually, it came time for Paul to leave, and he departed in the night, two years after he crash landed, with a stock of dried berries and fruit and a new language in his arsenal.
Tek, while wishing he'd asked to go, remained on the planet, returning to his home after watching in awe as Paul flew into the sky, eventually out of view. That night, Tek dreamed of other planets, of the peoples Paul spoke of. That morning, he made up his mind, and began working on his own spacecraft. It took significantly less time to build his own than it did Paul's, mostly because it was much smaller and he didn't have to teach someone about everything he was doing, and in less than six months, he had his own "functional" spacecraft. Without saying goodbye, and with no thought of "space is big, I should probably plot a course," Tek launched, streaking into the sky, and then, into space. Tek watched in awe as he streaked through the heavens, passing chunks of rock and space-junk.
Luckily, one of his planet's moons was inhabited, and he landed there, in a bumpy manner. It turned out that this moon was a refinery, junking old spaceships and other trash and this was where the scrap on the surface of the planet came from. Here, Tek found himself a job, disassembling weapon systems in ships. He stayed here for a year and a half before pirates flew in, killing most of the staff and taking over. Thankfully, they left Tek alive, having never seen an alien of his sort before. They kept him as a slave on one of their heavy gunner ships, having him repair the weapons and other things that broke. Here, after becoming friends with the captain of the ship, he learned to pilot the heavy craft. It was only after another band of pirates attacked them that Tek came to crash-land on another planet. Another planet who's name he didn't know. While the rest of the crew was killed in the fall, Tek sustained only minor scrapes and bruises, most of them coming as he escaped the burning ship. He wandered for some time before coming to a city more advanced than anything he'd ever seen. It was here that he employed his climbing abilities and learned the art of stealing and reselling.
Now fully grown and a well-known figure in the underworld of the city of Gatwin, Tek is an expert thief with a taste for rum and women of all species. With a sizeable amount of money saved up, he's looking to get back into space, where he feels he truly belongs. It just so happens he was at this bar looking for just such an opportunity.
Hahahah the votes, 1-1-1-0.

Re: Star Wars: Rogue Traders
@Cas - I like Arcana, though there's only one thing I don't like as much, and that being that she's a slave. I don't think Feso would be into buying slaves. Maybe she escaped her owners, which is why she's looking to join a crew, so that she can get away from her owner before he/she finds her?
@Cap'n - Great character as always, and now I feel I should expand on Feso, I feel ashamed I didn't go into as much detail as you did. Also, gonna nab the additional skills/not skills thing for the form if that's alright with you

1. Arcana?
2. I never meant for Feso to be the smuggler who bought her, should have said that.
3. I couldn't think of a backstory that didn't center on slavery in some way
[Edit: oh, you mean Ardana, sorry.]
Also, Mike. It's not monkey-like but I have a relevant reference picture for you

Yeah, sorry, typed it on my phone and it auto corrected.
As for the slavery thing, I don't have a problem with her having this as part of her backstop, I was just giving you add-on ideas to help. I could totally have seen her grab the shock staff from one of her handlers, and fight her way away from them, and been on the run for a few weeks.

Re: Star Wars: Rogue Traders
@inSYNCinSANITY - Thought you'd go for that idea. Just let it be known in your backstop whether you plan to start your arc with your escape, or when you've already escaped. Just bear in mind, I plan to get the introductions part over with quickly so I can get the rp moving.

Re: Star Wars: Rogue Traders
Still looking for some sort of mechanic style character, maybe as a hybrid role perhaps?

Re: Star Wars: Rogue Traders
Name: Kinto Scrimp
Age: 28
Race: Human
Role: Mechanic
Appearance: Blonde, bushy hair held back behind specialised robotic goggles. Tanned face, usually ridden with oil and muck, and bright blue eyes, under one of which is a long, deep scar. Worn teeth from smoking, but a warm, charming smile. Strong arms and shoulders.
Equipment/Clothing: Faded orange jump suit and brown boots. Sometimes wears a white helmet when working. Specialised gloves allow for the handling of temperatures of up to 200 degrees celcius.
Backstory: Kinto's relevance in the story begins when he first joined a pirate crew. At the young age of 16, Kinto had weaved himself deep into the pirating world. Him and his crew raided space stations, robbed bars and destroyed smaller product ships in order to harvest their cargo. This was all made considerably easier by one factor, and that was that Kinto owned a lightsaber. No, he was no Jedi, but he could swing a sword and as long as he didn't hit himself a lot then he could use a lightsaber, albeit a lot less gracefully than intended.
Though he was no captain, Kinto managed to learn his fair share of skills from his pirating career, becoming competent as a pilot, gunner and strategist. However, it was only until he began to learn mechanics that his talent shined. By the age of 20, the pirate ship had almost every part of it replaced by Kinto, making it a completely different vessel entirely. With the respect of his crew and captain alike, it wasn't surprising that Kinto would be passed on the torch when his captain, a Nautolan named Kape, died in a bar fight on the small grassland planet of Ealor. Kinto had a successful career as a pirate captain from ages 21-26, donning his yellow lightsaber throughout.
This career was brought to an end, not by authorities, but by a prisoner. After a successful siege of a sizeable mining ship, Kinto and his crew had began to take any surviving miners hostage. Kinto had a distaste for offing normal working men, and it was through this compassion that Kinto made his first mistake.
By the hand of its captain, the mining vessel self destructed, killing most inside it. With Kinto's ship attached to the mining ship's side for boarding, the following explosion resulted in an eradication of the ship's port side. Kinto, who was lucky enough to have been on his ship when the explosion hit, was forced to land on Yavin 4, with half a ship and even less crew, who unfortunately died during the landing. Kinto, however, survived, though his lightsaber was destroyed along the way, with only the crystal remaining.
It was here that Kinto, a notorious pirate, wanted man and now castaway, had to find a way to survive. He did so by following the ruins of the Massassi, as he knew that that would lead him to the rebel base, despite being wanted by them, too. After days of walking and trying to survive, however, Kinto found no rebel base, but instead, a space station. It was here he met Fesa and her ship, and immediately offered his mechanical services in exchange for a lift off the planet. With Fesa's ship, the Skipper, being in bad nick at the time, Fesa was happy to oblige. It is unclear to Kinto if Fesa knows his identity or not, but until asked, he'll say nothing.
Kinto has been the mechanic on board the Skipper for two years now, and knows the Skipper inside and out. He can fix and operate most vehicles, in space or on land, and can customise weapons for his crew. He can also fight, but prefers to avoid conflict to directly avoid recognition.

Thanks Conor, awesome character. I'll edit the premise when I get home, and then hopefully start it up tonight depending when I finish

I've started the rp. I've put Kinto with me as he is already part of the crew, so its up to you, Mike and Cas how you join the party. I've left my first post open so that it can be any kind of scenario, whether its a simple meet and greet, or if something happens in the bar that draws our attention.

Re: Star Wars: Rogue Traders
Name: Jarik Novar
Age: 34
Race: Human
Role: Mercenary
Appearance:
Backstory: Unknown. He seem to appear out of no where 6 years ago. Since that time he's developed a reputation (by name only) as the most ruthless Mercenary to frequent Nar Shaadar.
Additional information: In person he's well mannered and charming, not at all what you'd expect from a mercenary. But he has a violent dark side. No one who knows his name knows what he looks like and no one who's met him would ever guess who he is.
Ardana is the only slave he's ever bought, and he actually treated her rather well, but he used her as a tool to distract or seduce targets for his own personal gain, so she ran away.
That's what I had in mind for him anyway.
I could use some help with the other guy though. He's nickname's gonna be 'the brute' (picture Drax from 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and Jayne from 'Firefly' and 'Serenity') and he's the guy who Jarik orders to do most of his dirty work, including beat Ardana whenever she speaks out of turn.
However I don't want him to be human and I'm not familiar with enough Star Wars species to know what's big, dumb and brutish.

Re: Star Wars: Rogue Traders
Apart from the saber, he seems perfect as an antagonist. Maybe instead of a lightsaber, he could have a vibrosword or something, possibly could be an echani (an ancient clan that focuses on honour in combat, which could be why he's alone, exiled by his club for his corrupt nature).
As for his henchmen, Gamorreans or wookies are an idea for a brute style character.

Re: Star Wars: Rogue Traders
Although he has one doesn't mean he can use it. I'm not trying to sh*t on your character, I'm just tryingto avoid jedi stuff altogether, at least until a later mission that I have planned.

Re: Star Wars: Rogue Traders
Well I don't really plan on him coming into it for awhile if that helps? Anyways, you'll probably be person to decide when he's around so, it's up to you really.

Re: Star Wars: Rogue Traders
Either way my latest post just had a small gang of wookies come into the bar, and i wrote them as if they were part of your character's gang, Sync. I can change it if needs be but whatever

Nah it's cool, I went with it. They can be like henchmen or whatever.

Re: Star Wars: Rogue Traders
My apologies, I misread your signup in regards to Jarik. I also didn't notice that you'd posted a sheet for him. The forum doesn't like to show me that there are new posts once in a while.
Anyways, we needed to get whoever was chasing Ardana off of our tail before we continued, regardless of their profession. Chalk it up to Tek's confusion on the matter.
